Last picture is Silkie's parents and hatched chickes for reference.
Silkie was hatched very end of September 2025 by her mom (white). Her father is a splash color. She is a pet quality as she has no 5th toe and isnt feathered well on her middle toes. She was laying eggs and has already went broody with her mom and hatched some. Her mothering skills were immature as she started roosting with dad after a couple weeks, but she was only 6 to7 months old. She was determined to hatch some and did will with them until she didn’t. I'm sure she will do great in the future! She should start laying again soon.
The other two were hatched the end of April 2025. They both have very nice full boots and are laying eggs about every day. Cochin is hatchery from one of the Iowa ones, I forget which. The D'uccle is from a breeder.
I lost their mates to a predator and have decided to go a different way for now. I'm going to try and get better pictures of them when the sun comes out again. They are beautiful birds.
We can meet in Springfield a few days a week when we are there also.
