What are hobby board games you ask? These are not mass market games (think Monopoly, Clue, Yahtzee) that you will find (mostly) at Walmart or Target, but rather a brick n mortar or online hobby board game retailer. I loved board games as a kid and never knew there was a whole world to explore. I basically caught up on the last 25 years off how modern board games have progressed from what we played as kids. Thousands of new board games come out every year.
There is way more out there then the dozen versions of getting your 4 pawns around the board (Sorry, Parcheesi Aggravation with a few seconds thought). How exactly is it fun to lose turns/all your money and watch everyone else play? (Monopoly).
Imagine a game where you have your own board and no one can mess with your stuff (there are plenty of games where you can still do that). Or perhaps a game with 3 or 4 victory conditions that you can pursue to win? A cooperative game where everyone wins or loses together. Turns where everyone is able to do something cool. Card games where you build up your deck with cooler more powerful cards that maybe everyone else doesn’t have…
Prices will vary and range from $5-$25 depending on what original cost was (40% or more off what I paid) and most were played an average of 3/4 times (as I move on to explore other/more complex games).
Happy to teach & demo a game, but you could save us both time and look on YouTube for a “how to play” or “overview” video for each title (there are a large number of board game content creators out there) and see the game, what it does, and if it peeks your interest.
